Evening Standard: ''Tokyo is trending: the rise of J-Pop''

Via: http://www.standard.co.uk/lifestyle/london-life/tokyo-is-trending-the-rise-of-jpop-7310536.html

Published the same year as the Gangnam Style phenomenon, this timely piece does a good job of capturing some of the zeitgeist that surround the continual hope that K-Pop/J-Pop could ever become a routine thing in the West. Painting a broad palate of the surrounding culture that J-Pop is simply a part of, the piece name-checks the usual core components from Kyary Pamyu Pamyu and Harujuku to Hyper Japan and Gothic Lolita.

I rather like the line about J Pop taking centre stage with London's teens - If only! In some utopian dream world, perhaps - but hey, if the ramen-craze of the moment builds any more, maybe we're in with a shout. If hipster culture and the dominance of pulled pork, beards and Shoreditch lifestyle says anything about London, it's that youth culture can go quite literally anywhere.

Time for that Hatsune Miku guest appearance on The X Factor live shows? Maybe, just maybe...
